The concept of this series is a simple one: Inspired by the notorious EC horror comics of the fifties and the Warren horror mags of the seventies, Bomb Scares was originally a horror anthology released through Kickstarter as a series of black and white 100 page volumes, and edited by Paul H Birch.
With the third volume appearing back in October 2021 it then seemed the perfect opportunity to take Bomb Scares in a different direction. The result is Bomb Scares #1: a relaunched, reformatted, more streamlined anthology package that will include both color and black and white strips with content intended to scare, intrigue, bemuse and repulse - and throw in a dash of unexpected pitch-black humour too!
Bomb Scares is here to rock your mortal souls to the very bone with a crowded houseful of horror-chocked graphic narratives from the following amazing international talents:
Dead Ahead by Mel Smith, Clark Castillo, Birch & Alex Nino
Sailing in on the high seas, is this stark thriller of epic survival against the carnivorous desires of the undead; now risen and roaming the earth, as illustrated by a true living legend of the comics medium.
Frankenstein by Hunt Emerson
Mary Shelly’s Gothic horror classic is given an outrageously rust-proof but side-splittingly amusing new jolt-of-life by one of the world’s leading cartoonists!
Corinna by Stefan Jackson & Trevor Von Eeden
Dressed to kill, the witch queen of New Orleans wreak havoc in this, her enticingly intriguing debut, brimming over as it is in a macabre mystery of magical mayhem.
A Modern Day Love Story by Clark Castillo & Denise Vermesse
Arachnophobia tugs at the heart-strings in this spine-tingling tale of the unexpected.
Amongst The Trees by Liam Sharp
Existentialism, alienation and indifference are all pondered in a tense and chilling vignette crafted by one of today’s leading comic book creators.
Home Front by John Erasmus
There’s nothing to be trifled at when a dinner party hosted by a serial killer goes horribly wrong in this hilarious soap-opera send-up of a saga.
I Married A Creature From Outer-Space by Paul H Birch & Mats Engesten.
Counselling over marital strife brings with it dire consequences from which there will be no turning back.
Kennedy by El Indio (Brad Tuttle)
Why psychotic alternative world blood-splattered heroics should not a lifestyle choice be!
Monsters In The Bullpen by Henri de Caroline & David M. Windett
Moving into new editorial quarters in the cupboard under the stairs the monstrously unamused office staff vent their collective spleen!
Samurai by Jim Alexander & Luke Cooper
Returning from war, his village wiped out, the Samurai mustseek revenge against rancorous marauders and monsters yet unknown, in this award-winning writer’s epic tale!
Morgue File by the Monsters in the Bullpen, Christine Logan, Roland Bird, Gary Crutchley, Martin Tierney, Anthony Summey & Lew Stringer
Incorporating news, views, brand-new comic strips of malevolent adventure, sinfully comedic mischief and a unique photo-fumetti experience to boot.
As you can see, Bomb Scares #1 is a bit different from other horror comics you might have seen, but we think that's one of the exciting things about it and we hope you think so too.
But, a word of warning. There'll be no Cthulhu "inspired" content here, or multiple variant covers (nude or otherwise) that scream style over substance. No, the Bomb Scares #1 campaign is about one thing: using the Zoop platform to get a brand new horror anthology that's a bloody good read to backers who want to read it.
UK-based Time Bomb Comics have been publishing comics since 2007. From small-press roots it has become one of the mainstays of the British comics industry, and received the 2022 Tripwire Award for Best UK Indie Comic Publisher.
If Bomb Scares #1 does exceed that target, there are some very cool stretch goals lined up, in the form of exclusive limited art prints from some of our artists! Starting at $3,000, a Hunt Emerson 'Frankenstein' print!
All the art and editorial pages for Bomb Scares #1 are fully complete and in-house, with the pages already formatted for printing. If this campaign is successful shipping of Bomb Scares #1 will commence in January 2024.
Yes! We encourage you to get more than 1 item! That could be multiple copies of the same reward, or you can mix and match rewards! There is no limit, unless otherwise stated in the reward description.
Our campaigns are for a worldwide audience unless stated otherwise in the campaign. All international orders are sold with the terms DAP (Delivered At Place). You are responsible for any duties and taxes required for the shipment's entry into your country. Our carriers may require you to pay taxes and fees related to importation and customs brokerage of your shipment -- but if your item is really low in value, it may fall under the customs de minimis of most countries. For more information, please contact USPS
Zoop does not store or keep your credit card info. Stripe simply holds the credit card info until the end of a successful campaign and then charges it. It is strictly for this one time use and won't charge it ever again.
You can either access the transaction through your account and click the cancel button, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll cancel it for you and send back a confirmation email.
Cancellations of rewards or add-ons of $500 or more must be made before there are 72 hours left in the campaign. The reason for this is it can have a negative effect on the tally of the campaign. If it is a limited reward or add-on, there may not be sufficient time for someone else to purchase it, leaving the campaign possibly not funded. We ask for your courtesy of the people running the campaign when making these decisions.
Please use the notes section in the last checkout step or you could e-mail us at email@example.com with that info during the campaign if you'd like to get it out of the way. Otherwise, we'll be reaching out to all supporters of rewards that require feedback shortly after the campaign is over.
If you want to make changes, you should first cancel your original order and then start over with a new one. If you don't do that and simply process an additional order, the way our system is currently set up you may end up being overcharged for shipping -- which we could remedy for you, but it just takes that extra step of catching it and crediting you back the extra shipping, so please try the prior way first.
Rewards are the priority items that the creators have chosen for the campaign. Add-Ons are meant to be secondary items that are 'unlocked' after you buy something from the Reward level. There are no restrictions on buying Rewards, but you can only buy Add-Ons if you've bought a Reward. Zoop sets this up under the direction of the creators. Some may choose to only have Rewards, some may choose an even balance of Rewards and Add-Ons, and others may choose to only have one or two Rewards with the rest of the items being Add-Ons.
Since we have an a la carte rewards system, shipping rates will vary from supporter to supporter. We use a weight-based calculation system in your checkout cart, though, so, after you enter your country, you'll be able to see it calculated in real time with each item you add.
No - this is it! We're essentially your in-campaign pledge manager. If you are interested in supporting these creators, this is the time to do it! And it's the exact reason we allow you to purchase as many rewards as you want during the campaign!
