#The Story
Ginger Origins is a 48-page oversized graphic novel. It follows the internal struggles of Ginger Cat Nr 9 who is dealing with anxiety and exclusion in a Tuxedo Cat-dominated society. His mentor Mau Cat is revealed to be an untrustworthy cat who scams ginger cats and drinks ginger meow tears in his free time. The struggles for Ginger Cat Nr. 9 are real though, and his visits to his therapists seem to have no positive results. Is he really the orange cat he thinks he is, and is his wish to fit into the Tuxedo Cat society just a fear of being himself?
This second edition includes extra content like back stories, a prologue and has additional content created by artists Michiel Walrave, Johan Kleinjan, Gees Voorhees and Yvonne Gaemers. It also includes a soundtrack composed by me, YobKiss, released on cassette tape and digital download by South Korean label Extra Noir. There will also be a 7” record of the Pistache & Mustache track, available for early backers of this project.
When I look back at the original risograph I published in 2018, I saw a bunch of things I wanted to improve in this new edition. For instance, I didn’t like the digital speech bubbles I made in InDesign and I didn’t particularly like the font I used, so I’ve redone all the speech bubbles and lettering. Generally speaking, the risograph has a nice aesthetic quality but I found that a lot of the details got lost. So this remastered issue will provide a better quality while still having some of the tactile reproduced qualities I liked about the risograph. In addition to all this I drew an extra story about Pistache and Moustache, two cats who are acid house producers and get messed up.
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do and thank you so much for your support. You are truly the people who keep comics alive!

#Bio
I’ve been creating original comics only for a short while now. Before this I did commercial illustration and animation work for the likes of DC and Village Roadshow. I also had a fine art career with the artist collective Antistrot that I co-founded in the late 90’s.
When Antistrot came to an end I found myself stuck and unable to express the art I was able to express before. I just didn’t feel I had anything more to say to the art world and kept on doing commercial illustration jobs to get by. I did have some story ideas about my own issues with anxiety and my interest in physics, in particular the “heart problem”. That eventually led to Flying Mau Cat and, now, Ginger Origins.
Growing up in the Netherlands my inspiration came from French and Belgian comics and I was a fanatic collector. I had done several comics and scripts in my early teens and even won prizes. So the publication of Flying Mau Cat in 2018 marked the start of creating comics again!

#Timeline
The comic is 100% ready for print now. The record, a lathe-cut 7”, is ready to be produced and the cassette tapes have already been duplicated and shipped. I expect it to go to print straight after the end of the campaign. Printing and shipping from that point should take around 4 weeks, so delivery of rewards is expected to be done mid-November.
Zoop will communicate with supporters should any delays occur, if there’s confusion about delivery, or if any other concerns pop up.
