Story

In 2021 we launched a crowdfunding campaign for a one shot comic starring the Hunter on his quest to protect his fellow robots and kill as many kaiju monsters as he could. It was so successful that we got to turn it into a 12 issue mini series, so we decided to launch another crowdfunding campaign to give you, the fans and lovers of comic books, a chance to get in on the ground floor and be among the first to get the read this book and pick up some cool exclusive stuff at the same time.

This book is a love letter to kaiju stories and westerns, written and drawn by two fans who love both and want to create the greatest book possible. It hasn’t been easy, but with your help and support, we can make this the most pulse pounding, heart gripping, awe inspiring thrill ride possible. You’re going to love it!

Over the past decade, there has been no better place for creativity to flourish than the independent comic book market and that goes double for the crowdfunding scene. So many great and diverse ideas ranging from action and science fiction tales, to romance stories of all types, to big budget action blockbusters have gotten their start on sites just like this and it’s been incredible.

Frankie and I are two small-time creators with big plans and a desire to see comic books flourish and be treated with just as much respect and attention as other forms of media, and this is the best way they know how to contribute to the ever growing tapestry of amazing stories.

But at the end of the day, it can only be done with your support. We have a hell of a story to tell and we cannot wait for you to come along for the ride.

Bio

Matthew Blair: When Matthew was growing up he spent a lot of time moving from place to place and not making a lot of friends, so of COURSE he became a nerd and a writer. After graduating college he decided to try and become a professional comic book writer, a goal that saw him reach out to an artist by the name of Frankie B. Washington and self publish a little webcomic titled “The Secret Lives of Villains”. They continued to collaborate for over six years, and eventually laid the foundations for what would eventually become his first major work: “Kaijus and Cowboys”. He enjoys science fiction, action movies, and eating too much for his own good.

Frankie B. Washington: Frankie spent his early days enjoying a block of television programming known as “The Creature Double Feature” which led to a colossal (pun intended) love of kaiju and other monsters. He developed a love of drawing at an early age, which led him to attend and graduate from the Butera School of Art. Pursuing a career in storyboarding for films, animation, and eventually advertising. However, while it paid the bills, monster stories remained a passion of his that led him to co-create a mecha book entitled “Robot God Akamatsu” with James Biggie and eventually collaborating with Matthew Blair on “The Secret Lives of Villains” and “Kaijus and Cowboys”. He enjoys talking about art, comics, and old school cartoons.

Stretch Goals

$3000: Everyone who ordered a physical copy of the book gets their cover upgraded to a Zoop exclusive cover (the exclusive cover illustration will be included on the inside back cover of the blank variants).

$4000: A three pack of trading cards including the Hunter, Doc, and his noble Steed.

$5000: Every physical backer gets the prequel comic in addition to their original comic.

Timeline

All of the artwork for the comic and rewards is done, so all we have to do is submit the art and click print. We anticipate 3-4 months to gather everything together and another 2 months to ship everything out.

We have done crowdfunding campaigns before, so the only risks involved are supply chain bottlenecks and shipping delays. We are both committed to delivering the best product we can as quickly as we can and we will make sure that you will be aware of any delays that might occur.

A few short answers to how this works.
