The Book

Why ZURDO? what does it mean? the word itself means “lefty” in Spanish. It’s a trait I share with my mother, it’s no revelation that left handed people are in the minority of the population, growing up I would hear these stories from my mother and uncles about how left handed people were mistreated in their childhood, forced to use the right hand and punished if they did otherwise, as if there is something wrong  or evil with them for using their left side, something…”sinister” which is a synonym for “left” in Spanish, “siniestro”. I had the privilege to not grow up in that generation,  as a kid I was encouraged to use my left and have creative freedom to explore whatever I imagined, so ZURDO is that, the embracement of that left side.

In this book I plan to revisit some of my favorite artworks from my 15 year career as an artist, featuring some familiar work from covers and character designs but also showing some of the personal art that has never been seen before. This book features some of the behind the scenes process work, exploring the different medias from my digital process to my work in traditional art like markers and watercolors. In the end it will be a retrospect on my evolution as an artist. I’ve always felt looking back at older work can sometimes be a wise teacher.

Bio

Jorge Molina has been a creative force in the comic book and video game industry for the past 15 years. After being an exclusive artist at Marvel for 8 years, he has made numerous contributions as an artist, designer and creator on titles such as Star Wars, Spiderman, Thor, Avengers and the X-Men.

Recently, Jorge made his debut on DC comics as Batman’s main artist, working not only on interior and cover art, but also designing new characters and suits for his iconic run on the Dark Knight.

His passion for video games and design has also led him to pursuit a career in video games. Jorge has worked as a concept designer for Activision, Crystal Dynamics and Zynga Eugene, and recently at The Initiative, one of Microsoft’s biggest game developer studios, where his talents were essential in establishing the look on the new Perfect Dark video game (in development) as a lead character & concept artist.

Stretch Goals

Timeline

As of the beginning of the campaign, Jorge is gathering the final pieces to be featured in the book. We expect it to be print-ready within a month after a successful campaign. During that time, Jorge will also be completing the remarqued drawings before they can be bound into the book. which could add another few weeks, but then we'll be heading to print!

Printing and shipping should take around three months from that point, so delivery of rewards is expected to be done around November 2023.

Zoop will be here to communicate with backers should any delays occur, if there’s confusion about delivery, or if any other concerns pop up.

A few short answers to how this works.
