Idle Hands will be a vast collection of artwork spanning Richard Pace’s career, including work from Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse and other publishers as well as his more recent work with Second Coming (co-crated with writer Mark Russell), his infamous witches from Coven, and his upcoming series of Viking Horror one-shots. This is in addition to a large array of personal work including celebrity portraits, various daily drawings, as well as glimpses into past comics projects that fell by the wayside over the last thirty-five years.
The 300-page hardcover collection will also delve into his processes for painting, comics pages, as well as his step-by-step cover method. Further, there will be an exploration of his influences from classically trained artists like John Singer Sargent, masters of Illustration like Frank Frazetta and Joseph Clement Coll, and masters of the comics medium like Bernie Wrightson and Bill Sienkiewicz. And, finally, something I think has been missing from many contemporary artists’ books; a section on how to survive and grow as an artist and creator in these hard times.
