Objects in the Mirror is a poetic tale that explores familial trauma, loss, and identity. Described as “a stained glass portrait reflecting trauma, longing, and belonging.”
This one-shot is told in two parts and is written as a series of poems accompanied by abstract traditional art that mixes illustration and collage.
"This comic is visual poetry at its absolute finest. A stained glass portrait reflecting trauma, longing, and belonging. You will be mesmerized. You will be amazed. And boy, your heart will ache. Everyone should take a look at this comic - it's MASTERFUL"
- Fell Hound, Ringo Nominated creator of Commander Rao
“A masterful expression of nuanced emotion, coupled with a visual complexity that will (if you're like me) have you revisiting pages in your mind for days."
- Richard Fairgray, creator of Shed and Haunted Hill
“I am literally f***ing speechless by this magnificent, unrelenting, and ferociously resolute story”
- Lauren, host of Friendly NBHD Show
"Objects in the Mirror is comics at its finest. It takes full advantage of what the medium has to offer for storytelling. The poetic language and haunting imagery dance between perfectly complimenting and juxtaposing each other throughout. It is impossible to not relate to this book. An absolute masterclass in losing yourself to only find a better self on the other side."
- Justin Richards, writer of Finger Guns, Everything is Different Now
"It's poetry. This is poetry. And when I say that I don't mean this is a comic book just containing a poem, I mean that the harmonious interaction between Anas Abdulhak's writing and Anton Mozhegov's and Mattia Monoco's art creates a poem in the form of a comic book. I've never read anything quite like this and I'm greatly anticipating the creators' next works."
- Leah Williams writer of X-Factor, Trial of Magneto, speaking on Eleutheromania
Written by Anas Abdulhak, a writer and artist from Damascus, Syria with a passion for poetry and sequential art. Anas released their debut comic book “Eleutheromania” earlier this year and has been hard at work since working on the follow-up.
Art by Gasp (Gaspare Orrico), a sequential artist from Italy, Gasp is known for his unique style reminiscent of 80s pulp comics. Gasp recently released his graphic novel Chi Non Muore to much critical acclaim.
Lettering by Novella Locritani, a letterer and illustrator from France. Novella brought her unique lettering style to this project to really pay homage to classic Vertigo books that we all grew up on and fell in love with.
