#The Stories

Jeremy Whitley presents the first chapter of two brand new creator owned stories in a collector's edition flip book! No other release of these books will ever be like this!

On one side it's the first issue of fantasy-horror-western SLAY! by writer Jeremy Whitley, Artist Alex Smith, Colorist Kelly Fitzpatrick, and Letterer Taylor Esposito.

Leilah wants to be a monster hunter. She wants to do it so bad, she's pretending to be the notorious monster hunter known as The Scarred Rider in hopes she may meet the legend herself. But when her first hunt turns out to be way more dangerous than she can handle, Leilah may not live long enough to meet the Rider or, worse yet, she just might. This post-apocalyptic monster-hunting western is the first chapter of an epic about coming of age soaked in blood and monster guts and the dangers of meeting your heroes in the dark woods while you're impersonating them.

And on the other-side is the first issue of a superhero story told from a perspective you've never seen before. Part super drama, part meta comedy, The Girlfriend Survives is Written by Jeremy Whitley, Illustrated by Luc Nakashoji, and Colored by Jamie Noguchi.

It follows the story of Delilah Dillon, a barista who wins the heart of local college professor Billy Bright. But what she can't possibly guess is that Billy is the civilian alter ego of the mighty superhero Brightstar! And when Brightstar's greatest foe discovers her connection, she finds herself headed down the same route as a hundred civilian love interests before her - right into the fridge. But Delilah has a secret of her own: she's a survivor and this superhero love story is about to get flipped on its head.

#Bios

Jeremy Whitley is a writer from Durham, North Carolina. He broke into comics in 2010 with the Eisner-Nominated smash hit comic “Princeless” and subsequent spin-off, “Raven Pirate Princess”. He has written Marvel’s “Unstoppable Wasp”, “Future Foundation”, “Hulk Vs. Thor: Champions of the Universe” and a ground breaking coming out story for Marvel’s Gwenpool in their “Love Unlimited” series. He has also written “Sea of Thieves”, “Vampirella”, and over 50 issues of “My Little Pony”. His newest graphic novel is “Navigating with You” the hit queer YA romance from Maverick/Mad Cave.

Alex Smith (he/him) is an illustrator based in Southern New Mexico. He is the artist of The D-Ward from Keenspot Comics, Princeless: Make yourself issue 0 from Action Lab Comics, Out-Thinking the 7 Lies About School from Jantzi Test Prep, and album covers for Malibu Shark Attack, Tribe One, Fat Royale, and Tripping the Mechanism. In his free time, Alex enjoys drawing comics, spending time with his family, skateboarding, and playing as much disc golf as possible. Along with nearly 20 years of experience, Alex has a degree in commercial graphics and illustration.

Luc Nakashoji (they/them) is a Japanese/French-Canadian comic artist from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They are currently writing and drawing the upcoming webcomic Wielder’s Will, launching later in 2026. You can see their portfolio at http://www.nakashojiart.com

Jamie Noguchi is a DC area cartoonist and illustrator who got his start in comics as a colorist with UDON. He went on to self publish his slice-of-live webcomic Yellow Peril before co-creating the YA graphic novel series School for Extraterrestrial Girls with Jeremy Whitley in 2020. In 2024, he contributed several illustrations for Tsuburaya Production's Ultraman Card Game which he still can't believe was a thing that actually happened. In his spare time, he climbs at the local indoor climbing gym where he tries to convince his friends to watch tokusatsu shows with him (it doesn't work).

Over the past decade Kelly Fitzpatrick worked for almost every major comic publisher in North America, including Aftershock, Archie, Black Mask, Boom, Dark Horse, DC, Dynamite, IDW, Image, Marvel, Oni, Z2, as well as many other indie publishers totaling over 500 issues at this point! Kelly is best known for coloring work on Shade the Changing Girl, Bitch Planet, Supergirl: Being Super, and Gwenpool, but also draws and paints illustrations and self- publishes zines!

Taylor Esposito is multi-award winning comic book lettering professional, owner of Ghost Glyph Studios, and teacher at the legendary Kubert School. A former staff letterer at DC and production artist at Marvel, he has lettered titles such as Red Hood and The Outlaws, Robin Lives!, and Harley Quinn The Eat KILL Bang Tour; Flash Gordon, The Phantom (Mad Cave Studios), Free Planet, Drawing Blood (Image); Babyteeth, Maniac of New York, Bunny Mask (Aftershock); No One Left to Fight and Survival Street (Dark Horse). Other publishers he has worked with include BOOM! Studios (Amory Wars, VR Troopers) Dynamite (Elvira, Space Ghost, Jonny Quest, Green Hornet), and Oni Press (Nacelleverse, Invasive).

#Stretch Goals

To be revealed as we approach funding!

#Timeline

Slay! is completely done and The Girlfriend Survives is inked, with coloring and lettering being finished up during the campaign and right after. We expect to be ready to go to print one to two months after the campaign ends. Printing and shipping should take around three months, so delivery of rewards is expected to be done around August '26.

Zoop will communicate with supporters should any delays occur, if there’s confusion about delivery, or if any other concerns pop up.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! We encourage you to get more than 1 item! That could be multiple copies of the same reward, or you can mix and match rewards! There is no limit, unless otherwise stated in the reward description.

Our campaigns are for a worldwide audience unless stated otherwise in the campaign. All international orders are sold with the terms DAP (Delivered At Place). You are responsible for any duties and taxes required for the shipment's entry into your country. Our carriers may require you to pay taxes and fees related to importation and customs brokerage of your shipment -- but if your item is really low in value, it may fall under the customs de minimis of most countries. For more information, please contact USPS

Zoop does not store or keep your credit card info. Stripe simply holds the credit card info until the end of a successful campaign and then charges it. It is strictly for this one time use and won't charge it ever again.

You can either access the transaction through your account and click the cancel button, or contact us at hello@wearezoop.com and we'll cancel it for you and send back a confirmation email.

Cancellations of rewards or add-ons of $500 or more must be made before there are 72 hours left in the campaign. The reason for this is it can have a negative effect on the tally of the campaign. If it is a limited reward or add-on, there may not be sufficient time for someone else to purchase it, leaving the campaign possibly not funded. We ask for your courtesy of the people running the campaign when making these decisions.

Please use the notes section in the last checkout step or you could e-mail us at hello@wearezoop.com with that info during the campaign if you'd like to get it out of the way. Otherwise, we'll be reaching out to all supporters of rewards that require feedback shortly after the campaign is over.

If you want to make changes, you should first cancel your original order and then start over with a new one. If you don't do that and simply process an additional order, the way our system is currently set up you may end up being overcharged for shipping -- which we could remedy for you, but it just takes that extra step of catching it and crediting you back the extra shipping, so please try the prior way first.

Rewards are the priority items that the creators have chosen for the campaign. Add-Ons are meant to be secondary items that are 'unlocked' after you buy something from the Reward level. There are no restrictions on buying Rewards, but you can only buy Add-Ons if you've bought a Reward. Zoop sets this up under the direction of the creators. Some may choose to only have Rewards, some may choose an even balance of Rewards and Add-Ons, and others may choose to only have one or two Rewards with the rest of the items being Add-Ons.

Since we have an a la carte rewards system, shipping rates will vary from supporter to supporter. We use a weight-based calculation system in your checkout cart, though, so, after you enter your country, you'll be able to see it calculated in real time with each item you add.

No - this is it! We're essentially your in-campaign pledge manager. If you are interested in supporting these creators, this is the time to do it!  And it's the exact reason we allow you to purchase as many rewards as you want during the campaign!
